Philooking 2024:
Bridging Borders Through Robotics
Philooking?
Tsinelas (Team 9715)
Overlooking (Team 6083)
What is Philooking?
Tsinelas (Team 9715) from the Philippines and Overlooking (Team 6083) from Taiwan, two FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams, are joining forces to host an online workshop series. This initiative aims to mentor new and prospective FRC teams, sharing valuable insights gained from years of competition experience.
The workshop series will run through October and November 2024, with weekly sessions scheduled from 2 PM to 4 PM Philippine Time (PHT), which corresponds to 4 PM to 6 PM Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST). These sessions will cover crucial aspects of FRC team management, including
Mechanical engineering
Electrical systems
Programming
Game analysis and strategy development
Business operations and team management
≤≥ is shared, helping new teams build a strong foundation for their future in robotics.
This collaboration between teams from different countries demonstrates the international nature of the FRC community and its commitment to nurturing new talent in the field of robotics.
Who is Tsinelas (Team 9715) and Overlooking (Team 6083)?
Tsinelas (Team 9715)
Mabuhay! We are the first FRC team from the Philippines, established in 2023. Our team name is “Tsinelas,” which roughly translates to “slippers” in English, as a reminder of our home and culture. Having recently experienced our rookie year, we know firsthand the difficulties of getting started, with that in mind we hope this workshop encourages people from all backgrounds to join!
Overlooking (Team 6083)
Greetings! We are an FRC team from Taiwan. Our name, “Overlooking”, stands for standing at the world's top and overlooking the future like an eagle. It also represents our precious teamwork, team spirit, and heart-steel persistence. In recent years, Overlooking has organized summer camp at Sanmin Elementary School on Alishan, inspiring children’s interest in science. We have also participated in several market events to showcase our robot, allow the public to engage with the robot, understand the competition and support it. Our intention in organizing the workshop is to engage the interaction among teams from diverse backgrounds, helping FRC team members strengthen their expertise as well.
What will each workshop be like?
Each week, experienced FRC teams will host online workshops for new or aspiring teams. These sessions will be interactive and engaging, featuring:
Short, informative presentations
Question and answer periods
Fun games and activities
We encourage all participants to:
Ask questions
Share their own experiences
Join in the games and activities
Our goal is to bring together students who love robotics from all over the world. You'll hear from knowledgeable speakers and have plenty of chances to talk with the workshop leaders.
By mixing learning with hands-on activities, we hope to make these workshops both educational and enjoyable for everyone involved. Whether you're just starting out or looking to improve your team's skills, these sessions are designed to help you succeed in FRC.
